Ancora Imparo “I am Still Learning” Michelangelo

It was in his 87th year that the great Italian Renaissance artist Michelangelo uttered these words – an ancient testament to the modern idea of lifelong learning. Art being the greatest adventure of them all.

I got to teach some incredible artists this week between the ages of 6-14 years old. I am so proud of them. They put huge efforts into recreating the Edvard Munch masterpiece The Scream over the mid-term break.

Huge congratulations to: Emily. Marianne, Hannah, Catherine, Giulia, Marco, Emilia, Tadgh, oisín, cillian, seóna, ciarán, cornelia, penelope, and seán. Very well done guys.

These midterm master pieces are really coming together at Art Academy.   Great job guys.

huge Congratulations

I’m very proud of the effort and work you guys put into your art at Art Academy Summer Camp 2019. A group of master artists in the making.

Well done.

The original Rosa Bonheur (16 March 1822 – 25 May 1899) masterpiece. There is a really great book available from the national Gallery of Ireland’s bookshop and Amazon on this amazing artist.

Week 1 of Easter Art camp is underway here at Art Academy.

All of the artists have been busy over the past two days learning all about the famous Mexican artist called Frida Kahlo. We have been drawing her portrait, mixing lots of colours and painting her portrait using acrylic paints on canvas. The artists are aged 5-9! Can you believe it with this kind of work. Check out the results below. Has Frida Kahlo ever looked more beautiful? Well done everyone. Scroll down for more of their work inspired by Vincent Van Gogh!

We checked out a great storybook about Frida Kahlo by Laurence Anholt.  It is available to buy online or you can order it from my favourite library Rathmines Library.  You can also listen to the story on YouTube here #FridaKahlo #ArtAcademy #ArtHistory

The artists created another painting, on an even larger canvases this time based on the work “Sun Flowers” by Vincent Van Gogh

The Summer Camp running from the 17th -21st of July has 10 places. Yes it is a spacious venue, however this is a focused art camp taught at a high standard. The smaller volume of artists allows for a more individual attention to gain the very best from your fun art week.

Yes, there is availability for early drop-off / late pick up and can be arranged in advance for a small extra fee.

This is a mixed age Summer Camp for ages 5 and up. It is suitable for all art abilities and all artists are welcome to join regardless of previous artistic experience. The art group is small allowing the course to be tailored to each individual. There are several tiers and differentiations on each art project. This camp is unique in that it is small in size and each artist will have a bespoke experience within the overall theme of the camp.

All art materials are provided. You will need to bring a drink, a lunch and wear shoes and clothing suitable for art / old clothes that you don’t mind getting art on.

The art camp takes place in the main hall of the Harold’s Cross Community Centre.

Car parking facilities are available at the community centre. Parking is free and plentiful.

Cancellation by you: The €50 deposit is non-refundable. If you need to cancel please let me know immediately so the place can be released for another artist.

Art Academy reserves the right to cancel classes, change their location or substitute teachers should the need arise.
