Art Academy Summer Camp 2019

Art Academy are pleased to announce that we are now taking bookings for our Summer Art Academy Camps 2019 after the success at the Easter Camps. I’m so proud of the artists who attended and the standard of paintings they created. Exceeding my (admittedly high) expectations. Well done guys. 👩‍🎨👨‍🎨

We have 2 weeks of art to offer:

Week 1 for 6-9 year olds | 8th – 12th July | Monday to Friday | 10am – 2pm | Early drop off available if booked in advance

Week 2 for 9-14 year old s | 15th – 19th July | Monday to Friday | 10am – 2pm | Again early drop off available, if needed, if booked in advance

There are only 12 places available on each camp so I advise booking early.  To book your place post or email the booking form details along with a deposit of €50 per artist. You may pay your deposit with a cheque or postal order made payable to Sheila Flaherty or via Paypal using the email sheilaflaherty2002@yahoo.com. Balance due on the first day of camp.

Art Academy is located in Harold’s Cross Community Centre, located behind the building that was used for Kenilworth Motors.  Looking forward to art camp already. I’ve posted the Draw Your Own Masterpiece page (published in the recent Harold’s Xpress magazine) at the end of the post if you fancy challenging yourself to Botticelli’s Venus in the meantime.

Sheila.

Botticelli’s Birth of Venus Masterpieces by Week 1 Easter Camp Artists.

Congratulations to Ruth, Sarah, Oisín, Ava, Karl, Olaf, Seán, Lucy, Isobel, Aoileann, Nicola and Róise on completion of their Botticelli Birth of Venus masterpieces today at Art Academy art camp. They have done a wonderful job spending their Easter holidays creating beautiful art, learning new skills and making friends.

The original painting by Botticelli was created over 500 years ago and you can go to visit it in Florence Italy in the Uffizi Galleries. Take a look at their website here.

Some Renaissance art books for children we took at look at this week are: Botticelli by Mike Venezia and Rennaisance published by Usbourne

These can be borrowed from Rathmines Library

The art sticker book we used was bought from the shop at the gorgeous National Gallery of Ireland.

Art Academy wishes everyone a very happy Easter. Tomorrow is the final day of camp for the 6-9 yo artists and we are looking forward to art camp for the 9-14 yo next week.

Da Vinci Box: Ireland’s Premier, Fine Art Supplies, Monthly, Subscription box

Da Vinci Box is a project that I am excited to share with you. It’s something that I have been working on for a little over a year now. It will finally be set to launch this Autumn.

It is Ireland’s premier, fine art supplies, monthly, subscription box. Designed to unlock your inner artist and let you create art from the comfort of your own home, no artist’s studio necessary.  Professional art supplies will arrive at your door every month. You just set an hour aside for yourself, put the kettle on and enjoy creating in your own space.

At Da Vinci Box we believe everyone should enjoy making art and that you were created to create. So keep an eye out in the coming weeks for more updates and I will reveal more when I can. There is a place holder website up for the moment, while the grand masterpiece is being finessed, so bear with me. You can like, share and follow on instagram and facebook in the meantime. I can’t wait to unveil it all officially and start to build a creative Da Vinci Box art community together.

Drawing the The Late Late Toyshow Hot Chocolate Mug

I know I’m an adult but I love, love, love the Late Late Toyshow hosted by Ryan Tubridy. So for the night that’s in it, I made a quick sketch of the Toyshow mug. They are on sale in Penneys, along with a full range of Toyshow merchandise. Raising funds for Temples Street Children’s Hospital and Our Lady’s Hospital in Crumlin. Drinking hot chocolate from a cute, owl mug watching the Toyshow is the nicest charity endeavour ever.

I used coloured pencils from Faber Castell and the Uniball gel pen in white. Oh also a Derwent charcoal pencil, which is fast becoming a favourite of mine. To create your own drawing check out the step by step process pics below:
