How to Create a Winter Wonderland Window

I had some fun recently creating this Winter Wonderland window for my local Post Office here in Harold’s Cross. If you would like to create something similar for your home or business this Christmas I will share the materials I used:

For outlines and small details I love these Chalk Markers from Uni. They adhere easily to the glass, are fun to use and wipe off with a damp cloth come January. No scraper blades needed.

Then for larger area I simply used a large paintbrush and this water based, liquid powder paint. I ordered two bottles but barely even needed a small amount from 1 bottle to complete the window. This paint works well on windows and again easy to clean off after Christmas.

I bought these materials online from a local art supplier K&M Evans. They have a good range of art supplies and an excellent delivery service.

I like to draw and cut my own stencils from card but I’m sure there are lots of ready made stencils to buy online if you prefer. I used 160gsm card in size A2. I use the same paint as above with the stencils.

I make a kind of stencil brush to dab on the paint. I use those yellow sponges that are stiff for cleaning dishes. Remove the green scratch part and wrap the sponge tightly around the edges with masking tape, shaping it into a round. Use this to dap the paint onto the stencils.

Have fun
